Let me tell you a little story about why I started CrystalPixel Studio and why I chose this aesthetic for my brand.
I was born in 2000 (Y2K FTW!), the daughter of a Jamaican immigrant in England. My mum wanted to give me a “better life”—though honestly, I wouldn’t have minded the sunshine and beaches over clouds and rain. I’ve been a creative since childhood, painting the oak tree in front of my council flat at just seven years old.
Fast forward: I studied Illustration & Graphic Design, earned two degrees, and spent nearly five years trapped in a soul-sucking customer service job. Leaving that job forced me to bet on myself and finally launch CrystalPixel Studio.
The name comes from BLKCRSTL (Black Crystal)—a nod to my identity as a woman of colour and my love for crystals. But when I got serious about design, I rebranded to CrystalPixel—because my pixels are CLEAN ASFFF!
The brand’s aesthetic? Raw. Grimy. Rebellious. It’s a reflection of my UK upbringing—not the aestheticised London you see online, but the real UK: graffiti-covered walls, council flats, rubbish bags piling up, and shitboxes getting absolutely ragged on suburban streets. It was chaotic, messy, and full of character. It shaped me.
But I’m not all grit—I was also the “dainty” girl, soft and feminine. That contrast is exactly what my brand represents: a mix of grunge, rebellion, and a touch of delicate elegance.
CrystalPixel isn’t just another design studio—it’s me. I bring stories to life through design, helping people visually express who they are. If you want to make an impact, I’m here to make sure your brand speaks louder than words.
